Fiscal sponsorship has evolved as an effective and efficient mode of seeding social movements, and delivering public services. Fiscal sponsorship entails a nonprofit organization agreeing to provide administrative services and oversight to, and assume some or all of the legal and financial responsibility for, the activities of groups or individuals engaged in work that relates to the fiscal sponsor’s mission. Fiscal sponsors are tax-exempt, charitable ventures that, according to a recent IRS report “have the ability to receive charitable contributions for specific projects, the infrastructure to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws and adequate internal controls to ensure that the funds will be used for the intended charitable purposes.” 

Simply stated, Tacoma Neighborhoods Together places responsibility for implementing programs in the hands of project leaders while ensuring appropriate fiduciary oversight.

Tacoma Neighborhoods Together offers Fiscal Sponsorship to extend our 501(c)3 non-profit status. We seek to serve groups that align with the principal goals of Tacoma Neighborhoods Together and help to further our Mission to enhancing our
community through public art, beautification and revitalization
projects within the City of Tacoma. In accordance with our mission, Tacoma Neighborhoods Together provides locally-led organizations and community-based groups, who do not already have non-profit status, the ability to access resources through
tax-deductible donations. We also provides access to affordable
liability insurance coverage, financial reporting, donation management and crowdfunding tools.

We ensure projects can launch quickly, without having to file for 501(c)(3) status.

• Because Tacoma Neighborhoods Together extends its 501(c)(3) status with our projects, we ensure you comply with all nonprofit tax regulations with the following services:

  • Tacoma Neighborhoods Together is set-up to receive grants, tax-deductible contributions, and other revenues on its behalf for use in carrying out approved projects.

    • When donations come in, Tacoma Neighborhoods Together ensures that every contribution of $250 and above receives a tax-compliant donor acknowledgement letter. 

    • Tacoma Neighborhoods Together will submit all required grant reports.

  • Federal, state, and local tax and informational filings

  • Receipt of tax-deductible donations and grants

  • Tacoma Neighborhoods Together will reflect the activities of the Project, to the extent required, on their state and federal government tax returns and financial reports.

We ensure that financial management is taken care of by experienced professionals.

• Tacoma Neighborhoods Together will receive and administer all funds that Sponsored Organizations will use to carry out approved project. Tacoma Neighborhoods Together will keep and maintain accurate, complete, and separate Project records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, showing all Project assets, liabilities, income, and expenditures.Tacoma Neighborhoods Together will provide budget and cash flow managementTacoma Neighborhoods Together will prepare a quarterly and a fiscal year-end Project balance sheet and income/expense statement for delivery to Sponsored Organization within thirty (30) days after the close of the period. 

We offer economies for scale. By pooling resources, projects have access to affordable liability insurance, donor management software, and tools to support fundraising efforts. 

• Insurance coverage – Tacoma Neighborhoods Together will maintain a policy of comprehensive general liability insurance of $1 million in coverage. Any day of event riders or increase in insurance costs related to Project activities will be deducted from the Sponsored Organizations account. 

• Crowdfunding is rapidly growing as a prominent tool for nonprofit fundraising. We recognize that it is hard for our projects to find the time to identify the best online fundraising platforms for their needs at a price they can afford. Tacoma Neighborhoods Together provides cutting edge customizable online fundraising tools.
